Corporate Social Responsibility

The Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve (NBR) is the first Biosphere Reserve of India. It provides habitat for about 110 exclusive endemic plants. NBNP is a replica of the NBR, focusing on conserving its flora and fauna.

Project Thalir is an initiative of the Indian Red Cross Society, Coimbatore District. This project provides a home for girl children who are either abandoned by their families or left to fend for themselves after their parents' demise. Today, around 32 children from ages 3 to 18 years are sheltered, cared for, and provided education through this project. It provides them with opportunities to develop their inherent capabilities and enables them to lead a dignified life.

Project Thalir – a Platinum Jubilee Initiative

IRCS Coimbatore celebrate its 75th Anniversary in 2010 and hallmarked it with launch of Project Thalir – a community care home for the ‘Girl Child’.

Located in Kavundampalyam, Coimbatore the home takes care of the complete food, medical, educational and sustainable rehabilitation for the children it houses and is currently in the age groups for 32 children in the age groups of 4-17.

The children are encouraged in all possible ways to develop life sustaining skills including that of Art & Craft, Dance, Gardening, Tailoring, Computer, Sports etc. thus enabling the ability to lead a life with dignity and co-exist with society as normal persons would do.

Children from this facility have graduated to higher educational institutions and IRCS is now constructing an After-care Home to accommodate children above 1 Years to Help them sustain until they complete their college education.
